Kim Beck – All Sales Final

In this installation, the messages, "All Sales Final" and "Space Available" appear in the storefront windows of Gridspace. However, unlike the posters which usually announce a big sale or a store closing, these texts were written by a skywriter, and the images are documentation of that event. In the process of translation, from sign to sky and back to sign, they evoke open-ended poetic phrases. As the words start to dissolve in the clouds, they suggest the promise of new horizons. Installed behind the storefront windows, the reflection of the Brooklyn sky is a reminder of the constantly changing environment.
